Meet the Bands of Foreign Dissent 11

Seven bands. Six countries. Two countries making their Foreign Dissent debut.

After 10 years and 69 bands from 21 countries, FD keeps expanding the map. Here’s who’s playing October 19 at Will’s Pub in Orlando. Scroll down for band info and links to listen.

Arid Wave (England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿) Southampton brothers Ben and Will Palmer started Arid Wave in a bedroom, and now their three-piece is coming to the U.S. for the first time. Their sound has grown into something that mixes post-grunge hooks, frantic post-hardcore riffs, and the down-tuned guitars and bellowed vocals of sludge metal. Their late-2025 EP Hüsker Dööm makes that case in six songs. Listen on Spotify.

The Overjoyed (Greece 🇬🇷) Foreign Dissent has never had a band from Greece, and The Overjoyed have never played in the U.S.. Both change October 19. The Overjoyed are an Athens power-pop punk quartet who have been at it since 2011. They dropped a new self-titled album in February 2026, have toured Japan, the UK, and across Europe, and have shared stages with Green Day and The Offspring. La Versión Extendida de las Cosas (Costa Rica 🇨🇷) San José’s La Versión Extendida de las Cosas are back for FD11 after making their Foreign Dissent debut at FD8. Their melodic, catchy take on alternative punk and emo has earned them serious recognition in the Latin American independent scene, including an ACAM Award for Best Punk Album for their record Rituales Modernos. Age of Kid (Japan 🇯🇵) Foreign Dissent has never had a ska band. That changes October 19. Age of Kid are a Tokyo three-piece who have been active since 2019, playing over 50 shows a year. Their second album dropped in early July. Influenced by The Suicide Machines, The Flatliners, and Choking Victim. Listen on Spotify.

HYPERDOG (Austria 🇦🇹) Hardcore punk from Linz with a darkwave streak. Eccentric synths and phased-out guitars give them a sound that pulls equally from bands like Joy Division and Black Flag. Let’s call it eggpunkcore. Their latest record Dog Days dropped in December 2025. They’ve been touring hard across Europe and Australia and we’re stoked they’re coming to the U.S. for the first time. Brightr (Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿) Wales makes its Foreign Dissent debut October 19. Newport solo artist Laurie Cottingham has been recording and touring as Brightr for over a decade, playing acoustic emo he self-describes as “bleakly sad with little hints of hopefulness alongside pretty, almost poppy melodies.” His second full-length Year Two dropped in summer 2025. Feeble Strength (England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿) Making their first ever trip to the U.S., Feeble Strength is a Sunderland/London DIY rock band with 90s guitar sensibilities and lyrics that tackle heartbreak, failed socialist utopias, and economic losing battles in equal measure. Think The Weakerthans, Superchunk, The Thermals, and Guided By Voices. Their debut EP Various Martyrs came out in November 2024 and their new record The Long Defeat is on the way. Razorcake called them “full of grandiosity and depth.” Listen on Bandcamp.
