Oh, you want more bands? You get more bands!
Adding to the already stellar lineup for Foreign Dissent 7 are an additional three bands, including the first ever band from Croatia.
Will more be added? Maybe, possibly, not sure. We’re at six bands, but adding one or two more isn’t totally out of the question. Stay tuned.
In the meantime, go listen to these bands, tell your friends about FD7, and we’ll see you at Will’s Pub on October 24 for the long awaited return of the ultimate International Punk Rock Party!
Today, The Fest announced their first round of bands for FEST 20, which means it’s time to announce the first round of bands for Foreign Dissent 7.
I’m extra excited about these three announcements, because two of the three bands hail from countries never previously represented at Foreign Dissent: Norway and Chile.
There will be more bands to be announced, most likely not until June when The Fest announces their next round, but rest assured there’s some more foreign awesomeness to come.
Without further ado, here are your first round of bands for FD7:

Sure, it’s nearly eight months until Foreign Dissent 7, scheduled for October 24 at Will’s Pub, but when it comes to booking foreign bands, things start early.
Great news! We’ve already confirmed five SIX bands (as of March 8). Three of those bands are from countries that have never been represented at Foreign Dissent before. And there will be MORE! I’m excited, are you?!
Bands won’t be announced until they have been officially announced by The Fest. Thems the rules, folks!
As you probably know, COVID continues to create both travel and safety challenges for foreign bands. In many cases, bands simply aren’t even legally allowed to enter the United States.
Sadly, that means no Foreign Dissent this year, but our sights are set on October 24, 2022 for FD7. Fingers crossed🤞
Shoutout to @joewilldesign for once again doing dope art.
As the world continues to battle Covid, the feasibility of holding Foreign Dissent 7 in 2021 remains unclear. While bands are starting to do shows, tour, and people are getting vaccinated, there are a number of factors for FD to consider before proceeding.
First, it requires The FEST to go on as planned. As of late April 2021, they are planning to proceed, but obviously things could change.
Secondly, because all bands at FD have to travel from other countries, there could be any number of reasons why they are unable to even make it to the United States. There could be travel restrictions, concerns about travel safety, financial challenges, and more. UPDATE April 29: Italy’s Menagramo just let me know that they won’t be coming for FEST or FD7 due to challenges with travel and getting the vaccine. UPDATE May 25: Sweden’s Movin In Stereo just let me know they won’t be coming over, either, due to very similar challenges.
Finally, because FD is held indoors at a smaller venue, the situation needs to be safe before we proceed. Having reduced capacity or a seated show just doesn’t feel right for an event that is about bringing people together to share a special experience. It would need to be truly safe and in the best interest of the bands, attendees, and the venue. The last thing Foreign Dissent wants to be is a spreading event that sets back progress in combating Covid.
Much remains to be seen and we’ll keep everyone posted.
Today, October 26, 2020, would have been Foreign Dissent 7 if Covid hadn’t completely changed things. So, to try to raise some spirits and remain optimistic, we’re announcing six bands from five countries that are confirmed for FD7 in 2021, with more bands to be announced later.
